Sinfonia Viva's range of project work is nationally-recognised as breathtaking in its ambition and inspiring in the challenges and opportunities it offers to young people

Our curriculum-related work with schools, colleges and universities gives thousands of students from every background the experience of learning and performing alongside the professional musicians of the orchestra.

Projects with wider community groups including the disadvantaged, excluded and marginalised, the sick and disabled bring the benefits of music-making opportunities and the fun of involvement alive.

Every Sinfonia Viva project is designed from the ground up in consultation with participant organisations and partners. Never off-the-shelf. Always off-the-wall.

Our projects are 'owned' by the participants. Their musical and other creative ideas are developed by our highly experienced workshop leaders from day one so that the devised pieces that result and which are performed on the concert platform together with the orchestra are just that: theirs.

Life-changing is a phrase we hear often from them, their teachers and carers.

Involvement in our projects builds self-esteem and self-worth, qualities that have educational and character-building effects far beyond the on-stage performance.

Perhaps this is why participants feed back to us that they find the experience of working with Sinfonia Viva so memorable and enjoyable and say they would love to do it all over again.
